Timahoe Heritage Festival 2023

We are delighted to have a number of authentic craft displays on show for both days of this year’s Timahoe Heritage Festival.

Authentic Viking craft is characterized by its simplicity, functionality, and quality. Vikings were skilled craftspeople who created a wide range of items, including weapons, jewelry, tools, and household items, using materials such as iron, bronze, silver, and gold. They employed various techniques such as forging, casting, carving, and weaving to create beautiful and functional objects that were often highly decorated with intricate patterns and symbols. Authentic Viking craft was an essential part of the Viking culture, reflecting their practical skills, artistic talent, and strong cultural identity. Today, there is a renewed interest in Viking craft, and many artisans are working to revive and preserve these ancient techniques and traditions.

These displays will be situated in and around Timahoe Heritage Centre and in the Viking Reenactment Village.
