Re-Enactment Viking Village
See how the Vikings lived, at this year’s Timahoe Heritage Festival, with the Magnus Viking Association, who are one of the longest running viking age living history groups in Ireland.
Founded shortly after the first Magnus Barelegs Viking Festival in 2002 with chairman Philip Campbell at the helm, they strive to educate and entertain through living history. They display and demonstrate aspects of every day like from viking age Ireland such as cookery, textiles, herbalism, combat and blacksmithing. Their name is taken from King Magnus Olafason of Norway who is buried just outside Downpatrick.
The Viking Village is open on both days of this year’s festival, from 12pm daily, and is situated at Timahoe Soccer Field, just yards from Timahoe Heritage Centre.
Entry to the Viking Village is free!
