Jaqui Wright Pottery
Timahoe Heritage Festival are delighted to have Jaqui Wright Pottery in attendance for both days of this year’s event! Jaqui has a lifetime of experience as a potter and a life long interest in history, both of which combined, have produced a truly amazing collection of pottery works.
Many of the pieces are copies of actual finds, with others created in the style of their time, such as
Saxon Pottery from 8th/9th century England, Scandanavian style pottery from the 9th to the 11th century, medieval pottery and a range of contemporary works .
The Vikings were not known outside their homeland for their pottery. Status was put on metal. These hand made pieces were usually made by women and children entirely for home use. They were originally unglazed. Simple and hardwearing. To me they speak ‘Viking’.
You can catch a glimpse of some of Jaqui’s amazing creations on her website.
