Jaqui Wright Pottery
At the Timahoe Heritage Festival on June 1st & 2nd, visitors will have the unique opportunity to delve into the world of pottery with Jaqui Wright from Raven Pottery. With a lifetime dedicated to the craft, Jaqui brings a wealth of expertise and passion to her work. For the past 14 years, Jaqui has immersed herself in reenactment, meticulously studying and reproducing pottery from various historical periods, spanning from early neolithic to early medieval times.
If you’re curious about ancient pottery techniques or eager to try your hand at crafting your own piece of history, Jaqui invites you to join her from midday on both Saturday and Sunday. During these sessions, attendees will have the chance to create a small pinch pot adorned with decorative elements, all free of charge.
For those who wish to take their creation home, there’s an option available for a nominal fee. For just 20 euros per pot, Jaqui will fire and glaze your handcrafted masterpiece and have it shipped directly to you. It’s a fantastic opportunity to not only engage with the ancient art of pottery but also to walk away with a tangible memento of the experience. Don’t miss out on this hands-on journey through the fascinating world of pottery at the Timahoe Heritage Festival!
The Vikings were not known outside their homeland for their pottery. Status was put on metal. These hand made pieces were usually made by women and children entirely for home use. They were originally unglazed. Simple and hardwearing. To me they speak ‘Viking’.
You can catch a glimpse of some of Jaqui’s amazing creations on her website.
