Celebrating 1100 Years of Viking Monastic History
Taking place on June 1st & 2nd, 2019, the inaugural Timahoe Heritage Festival, promises to be a really great weekend for all the family!
We have so much in store that there will literally be, something for everyone!
It all starts off with our 10 Mile, March of The Vikings Road Race, on Saturday June 1st, following the route the Vikings most likely took, from the Viking fort in Dunrally to Timahoe. This challenging route will be a great healthy way to start the festivities. A 5km route had also been added in the local environs of Timahoe. Both these races can be booked here.
From 12 pm in the surrounds of the Round Tower, Timahoe, there will be a chance for kids to enjoy the skills of Archeology, with the “Big Dig” company coming to town to educate us all. There will also be a chance for kids to see what it was like to make coins in early medieval times.
As well as all the archeological digging, there will be displays in Viking weaponary and early medieval cooking methods.
Also on Saturday June 1st, at 3:30 pm, we have the great storyteller himself, Mr. Eddie Lenin, who will regale us all with tales of the fairy folk, Irish Mythology and folk heroes! Not to be missed!!
On top of all that we’ve got a Food & Craft Market Fair, on both days, Music, Fancy Dress and lots, lots more, so be sure to visit Timahoe, and the Viking Festival on the first weekend in June!!!
